...Manual? I know the clutches on a Fiero are a constant maintenance problem because I had one in High School 15 years ago, so now Im looking at buying a Automatic Fiero- It wont be a daily driver , I have three other cars, it will just be a Sunday fartin around car. I wanted to get some opinions on it. I test drove the car 100 miles (an hour and a half) a highway drive, and it shifted fine after the 100 miles. very smooth.

Just take into consideration that the automatic version only came with 3 gears, which makes bad gas mileage and poor acceleration. The auto may shift smooth, but in my opinion it takes away from the fun of driving. Im sorry you had a bad experience with your previous Fiero, but the manual will be a better choice. If your only going to drive it on weekends, you might as well make the most of it, id say buy the manual and have some fun.

Okay, so your all grown up now. Buy an automatic it will give you a much more enjoyable driving experience. Fun instead of work. Simple.

Manual transaxles are fun, There are aftermarket clutches from places like SPEC and Centerforce that work well and last a long time.

The stock auto is OK. If you want to improve it Trans-Go makes a shift kit for it. Also many like to swap in a 4T60 auto trans. This has much better gearing for power as well as 4 speeds so gas mileage is improved. The swap is very easy just make sure you get a 4T60 and not the 4T60e.

As for "which is better" it is up to you on what you prefer to drive.
