Pontiac Fiero reliability/durability?

I was thinking of buying a used Pontiac Fiero, specifically for autocross use but also maybe as a daily driver to school and back. I was wondering if they were reliable cars and about how long the stock engine is good for. I was leaning towards a v-6 or maybe one that had been swapped. Are there any things/problems that I should look out for? Is the Fiero a good autocross car? Also I am kind of tall and lanky(6 foot 2) so I was wondering if there was sufficient cabin space. I have not test driven one or sat in one just done a little bit of research but not very much.

I remeber the Fieros as small sporty cars that were available in the 1980s. Don't hate me for saying this, but I think there may have been an issue that caused engine fires in some of them.

The problem I see with your idea: this car has not been made in 20 years. If it's your daily driver and a part breaks, you may not have a car for a week while you special order it in.
