Hi,
I have a 1986 pontiac fiero v6 fuel injected engine. I removed the Connecting wires going INTO the Throttle Postion Sensor, and tested them with a multimeter. No matter what combination I did I got 4.80 volts. When the pedal is pushed all the way down the computer says its doing 4.6 volts and when the pedal is untouched its about 1 volt. But no matter what the connector reads 4.8. So is this a fault in the Throttle position sensor or something within the wiring harness? Thanks for any help you can give!
P.S. If its the wiring harness, where should I look for possible faults?

You need to leave it pulged in and back probe the wires with a paper clip to check voltage. Your voltages seem normal for the sensor. It should be .8 to 4.6. It should increase smoothly as the throttle is depressed.

Well last night a friend also gave me the idea to use a multimeter to check the resistance through the entire range of the sensor itself, and the resistance does variate as I would expect it to! So what else could it be? (The engine is not in a car or even fully assembled right now so im and just trying toget ideas for the end of the week when its reassembled.
