Pontiac Firebird 3.1 V6 needs high consumption

1 and 2 try www.car-parts.com
3. Drive and Overdrive? Does your engine speed change when going from one to the other?

3. Does anyone know why there are two different drive emblems at the automatic gearshift? there is one with a frame and one without. i dont have a manual and i couldnt find anything online.....

The one with the frame is overdrive [O] .................... you should be in that one 99% of the time.
The regular drive (D) is for towing a boat or camper or small trailer. ( the other 1% of the time)

Should shift into Overdrive (4th gear) at 45 MPH or so. ( with the selector in [O] )

Lock up convertor can be locked in at any speed if you let your foot off the gas while driving.

Thanks Guys. But its the [D] that is framed not an O. Is there a difference in consumption between those two modes?

yes there is, should be in [D] for normal driving

Yes, allways ... for the best mileage ..............................................;)

The other D is for towing or deep snow - water - mud.
