Pontiac Firebird- Maintenance issue?

I am having difficulty finding out what the problem is with my 2001 V6 Pontiac Firebird. Whenever I start slowing down, the steering wheel locks up, the check gauges light comes on, and the car shuts off. What could be the issue?

Hmmm could be several different things.Being that year, i would do an engine scan, wich is free at your local AutoZone.Start from there.
