i was thinking about getting a pontiac grand am sedan/coupe and i was woundering if it was an expensive car to insure and if it would even be a good first car. i would prolly get an 01-04 30k-70k miles. also what would be the best comp to insure it with please help

It's the car to have, if you're in to ugly, boring, unreliable, rent-a-cars with ugly plastic interiors.

Avoid Grand Ams from the late 90s to the early 2000s like a case of poison ivy......those GAs were plagued with those notorious bad upper and lower intake manifold gaskets that leaked anti freeze like a sieve....some of the anti freeze from those leaks got into the engine and destroyed engines....also, the power windows, tracks, and motors were bad, bad, bad....expensive to repair....want more - GAs of those years had GM's notorious passlock anti theft security system that malfunctioned all the time....car will not start for 10-14 minutes when this happens which can be frequent....dealer only repair item and they will nail you for 600-800 dollars to fix that lousy system...intake gasket repairs easily cost $800 since the top of the motor must be removed to get at them.....my daughters 99 GA GT had all of the above happen and to two of her girlfriends had the same.......lousiest vehicle for quality GM may ever have made.
