Personally, I think this car is under-rated. I see so many of these cars on the road, and that must account for something.. If you own a Pontiac Grand Am, please tell us about your experiences.. And, if you have any pictures, please post 'em!

It is ashame that GM is running off their customers that love the Grand Am, mainly women. I have heard serveral say since GM won't build it anymore, they will look elsewhere for their next new ride. Talk about bad news for the general ! They are by far the most underrated car in their part of the market. I wonder if GM wanted to kill it and just let the advertising go in the toliet.

What's replacing the Grand Am? And where do you think the women will go next?

G6 is the "Sixth Generation Grand AM"

G1 1973-74 Grand AM (G Body Grand AM)
G2 1978-82? Grand AM (A Body Grand AM)
G3 1984-1990ish had a FWD Grand AM (N-Body Grand AM)
G4 1991-93ish got a redesign (N-Body Grand AM)
G5 2000-2004 design
G6 Current design!

It has always been missing the 3800 engine though. They had potential in the G3/G4 version, as they got the Buick 3300, which means you can bolt in a 3800 with no issues, and if you can get a 3800 in, then the Supercharged 3800 is only a matter of time...

And if you can fit a 3800, then a Cadillac 4.9L is just begging to be dropped in!!

So wait.. How is GM running off their Grand Am customers if the G6 is essentially a Grand Am?

Suckers! Oh, kidding!

I don't know, a friend of mine was looking at buying one.

My guess is it is like the "New F150" that they shipped the new one and the "old" one in 94 and in 2004 at the same time to use up stock of parts and beat Chevy to market.

Im Sticking With My Grand Am For Ever!!!!

hello,

I myself love my grand am. I own a 1994 Grand Am SE. I bought it when i was 16 years old. and i had to put a new engine it. then other things came up wrong on it but i stuck with it. Dont get me wrong i was getting upset about it always falling a part. but the look and the body of this car i couldnt get read of it. so i got everything fixed and now im making it a project car. ive got lots of things im doing. Im putting a body kit on it, new hood its going to be a ram air hood, new rims and tires. and front and rear strut bars. I figured prices for it all its about $1,500 to buy it all. not sure about cost on paint and putting it on. im wanting to do it myself but not sure yet. so if you got and questions or advice let me know.

I own a grand am gt 2001 v6 3.4 lt. i love it. i got some money in it, especialy the sound system. currently i bought 18" rims for it with high performance tires. Gages for voltage and oil pres, enchanced throtle sensor, electronic shift kit, painted brake calipers. There are a few other things here and there that can't even remember. take a look at car domain, these arn't up to date as of yet. i mite be updateing it today.

Car Doamin Link

As for problems with the car, i had a nasty leak in the sunroof when i first got it. the drain was clogged. nothing compressed air couldn't take care of, now i have had the car for about 2 years 57K miles on it and no problems.

a few problems and questions

i own a 2000 grand am gt....i absolutely love it....anyway, i was wondering if anyone who owns one has had a problem with the turn signal ticking??? it is so annoying.. it ticks on its own at total random, sometimes fast, sometimes slow. somebody told me once it has something to do with the hazard switch or fuse?? i'm not sure...if anyone has heard of this problem or have a solution pleeeeeeeeease let me know.

There is a recall out for the ticker for the turn signals. also right behind the hazard button is the module that controlls your turnsignals.. i know this becosue when i did my radio and drove around without the front bezel on my dash, i unpludded that module and forgot to put it back in when i decided to take off one day :). ne way. head over to www.grandamgt.com there is A LOT of info on the grand am gt there.

I have a 2000 SE with a delco am/fm/stereo cassette and want to replace it with a monsoon am/fm with CD and cassette. Does anybody know the part number for the one that will fit my car? I want to install it myself, so it needs to fit without modifications.

my babies got an ouchy......

needless to say the grand am rocks. i own a 96 se i love this car and wont get rid of it. i to now need to put a new engin, in her i think she threw a conn. rod. :( has anyone heard or doing a engin swap with the 3.1 or the 3.4 engins? mine only has a 4 banger in it, and a manule tranny. yet even with that she still has guts.....till today when the old girl crapped out. still going on 3 cylinders though. this is my cars way of saying hey its time to get me in the garage and pimp me out......lol

My fiance's mother had a rare 1999 Grand AM GT with the 3.4L H.O. V6. w/ factory Ram Air. Her husband had it up to 147 MPH on the highway one night!! And that was completely stock. It was a black 2 door with the polished aluminium rims, that thing was sharp. They ended up trading it in for a 2002 silver GA GT because the black one was too much trouble keeping it clean. I own a black 97 TA and it does take alot of work to keep it lookin good but when im done, boy, does it look good. Im workin on the pictures right now so ill put a couple of pics of it up here soon.

MY 99 GRAND AM WAS IN THE SHOP MORE THAN I CAN COUNT, THE REGULATOR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE POWER WINDOW WENT OUT TWICE, I HAD OIL IN MY RADIATOR, COST 980.00 TO FIX AFTER BEING IN THE SHOP FOR 4 DAYS, THE RELAY WENT OUT ON THE FOG LIGHTS, I HAD A WATER LEAK IN THE PASSANGER SIDE FLOOR BOARD. NOT SURE WHAT THAT WAS, I TRADED IT IN FOR A HONDA. HAVENT HAD ANY PROBLEMS SINCE. I CAN SAY I DID TRUELY LOVE MY GRAND AM, I HAD A WHITE 99 GT WITH TINTED WINDOWS, 2 DOOR. I MISS IT OTHERWISE.

Hey, I was wondering if anyone could help me
I have a '96 Grand Am Se, 3.1 V6, and it will not start.
You put the key in the switch, and it will not turn at all.
I love this car, and want to have it, any help is appreciated.
Note, we just finished replacing the lifters, so I really don't want to have to get rid of this fine vehicle.

Any advice is helpful

02GrandAMSE

I have been Driving a 2002 Grand Am Se 1 for the past two years or so. The Body and silver paint is in EXCELLENT condition. I Mean this beauty shines. It's a silver sedan with about 50k on it. So far, the only problem has been with the key cylinder censor reading my key. We bought the extended warranty and it doesn't cover that part. This faulty sensor has caused numerous problems in my life because it activates the security light and prevents me from starting my car. The dealer is voiding our extended warranty, and we have to pay 700+ dollars. So much for my college savings account. The only thing that irks me is that this is a repair that I shouldn't have to make ever. Other than that, I love this car. I have been in love with it since the moment I set eyes on it. I put a 1500 watt 5 ch Kenwood Amp, infinity 10" and all infinity speakers with a $500 buck kenwood excelon deck and Sirius. Honestly, as far as the look of my grand am, I'd never want anything else on the road.--

I have a black 1999 Grand am GT 3.4 HO with factory ram air, with the polished rims. I love it. but yea it is a job to keep it clean, but my first month of buying the car I also got 3 different size buffers to help out. haha but it is nice looking when it's all done up. I'm having the window''s done next week and I'm' in the middle of putting in a new system.... I'm all set with the wireing, I'm an electrician and that stuff comes easy to me, I have a schosce dash kit, but for the life of me I can see how to mount a single din player in a dash board like that. anyone have any sites or anything that goes through explaining any of that stuff, I probably won't' check back here very often, e mail me at Nmanory@msn.com

I need to know

I have a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am GT, V6, Ram Air....Freakin Bad as Heck.. What do you think would be better to put in??? A supercharger, or a turbo??? I prolly thinking a turbo, but i dont know because some people are telling me that a super charger would be better. Soon im hoping to put a Sweet Muffler System in. I also trying to see which of those would be the best... Because money ain't a problem...
