I'm heading down south this weekend to look at some cars, and I want some opinions (and reasons!). Which do you prefer - a sunfire or a grand am? This is my first car, and I am planning on paying around $4000-$6000 for it, low kms and no older than a 2000. Thanx!

both are good cars if they are well maintained
My daughter has a grand am gt
and she loves it , it hasnt given her any grief
be aware the Grand am with the 3.4 litre engine had intake manifold issues
ask the seller if this has been taken care of
good luck on your car hunt
I would also reccomend the Saturn Ion Quad coupe
it looks like a 2door sports car but because it has little half doors it is registered as a 4door and insurance is lower than other sporty cars, and saturns are very reliable
just like any car though maintenace is the key!
good luck on the car hunt

Grand Am, they're roomier and have more power

No doubt about it; the Grand Am is a significantly better car than the Sunfire. Better handling, more standard options, nicer ride, better seats and interior...it's like night and day. Sunfire's were built to be cheap; Grand Am's were built to be competitive. Also, the Grand Am will protect you a LOT better in the event of an accident over a Sunfire.

Of course, the Grand Am should be better...when it was new, it cost quite a bit more than a Sunfire did. It's a good two steps above the Sunfire overall.

Hope you got a Grand Am! I was in a bad crash with mine a month ago. The car is completely destroyed and I don't have a scratch on me. Nothing. I literally refuse any other car it's by far the best car I've ever owned
