I am a seasoned diy mechanic. Something is wrong here. Been trying for hours to put in the fitting on the high-pressure line at the power steering pump. I screwed it in off the car so the threads are fine. On the montana apparently the hardline kind of fits in a groove so the orientation should be easy. It's not possible to attach the line first then put the pump into place, not that I could find anyway. Any tips or tricks?

This guy puts the line on first

He only does the return. I'm trying to install the screw on pressure line.

Update. I abandoned the new line and put the old line back on. Screwed right in. That tells me the new line orientation isn't quite right so it's being returned. Ticks me off real bad. The real problem was the rack was bad but this slowed the job down a lot and I'll probably have to put a new line on at some point anyway.

Would somebody mind sending me some close up pics of the power steering area? My 17 year old did most of the work and he can't remember the line routing of the return and unfortunately it's not really obvious. The line connects to the cooler down low but where it routes from there is not clear. Hooks up via hose clamp to the reservoir. It's fwd btw.
