My 1998 Pontiac Firebird convertible has a power trunk lock release. When the button is pushed it makes a noise, but the trunk doesn't open. I took the actuator off and held it in my hand while someone pushed the button and the lever moved. I sprayed the lock mech. with W/D 40 to insure smooth movement, and reinstalled the actuator.I then pushed the button and the trunk again did not release.
Am I missing something? Is the actuator not powerful enough because of age to unlock the trunk. Is the trunk lid to heavy and I have to change the struts. Any thoughts on this?
