heres a link to my original thread in case no one remembers me. I have done a bit of research on this engine and since my LD9 (2.4L TC) block looks lie swiss cheese, I am planning on an engine swap/build.
I am planning on doing something like this:
LD9 short block, wiseco pistons set at 9.5:1 compression, H beam rods, a W41 or 2.3 HO head w W41 cams (or custom grinds). 2.3L HO intake and bigger throttle body, 3" exhaust with resonator, and dual SLP mufflers to oval tips. I like garret turbos and I even like old junk cummins turbos, but I'm not familiar with optimal CFM's for a quad 4 engine.
I plan on doing a turbo setup because I like the easy modifications and easy power and love the sound of a turboed 4cyl with dual exhaust, but I also played with the thought of an all motor sunfire with 11:1-12:1 compression pistons.
I DO NOT want to the the supercharged mp45 setup. The mp45 is not efficient and will only do an M62 setup, but there is way too much custom fab work involved there. I'd rather worry about a $900 cold side system than a $900 adapter plate.
I am wanting at least 300 whp. My roommate drives a Cobalt SS/SC and he's pushing 320 here soon after his Stage 3+ built/E85/pulleyed/HE/ported everything/ big exhaust setup. I don't expect to beat it but i would like the keep up with it, lol. I don't mind an automatic transmission but a 5 speed would be nice. I'm not familiar with the aftermarket world of cavs/sunfires so any help would be appreciated.
It's a convertable so I'm hoping someone on here knows if there has ever been a roll bar sold for a cav/sunfire before, because i cant go to the tracks without one.
