Ok, so my grandfather had a 355 built up from scratch 15 years ago but never used it, its been sitting in a heated and sealed barn for years and he said i could have it to put in my bird. i currently have a bone stock 305 in it but i already have full dual exhaust, headers, carb, and air cleaner for the new engine. my question is how much modifying will have to be done to make that engine work in that car and roughly how much will it cost? i have a family member who is a gm mechanic so installation should not be an issue, also i was wondering if all the belts and pullies will go on the new engine just long enough until i get new ones.. or will they just not fit at all? this is my first engine swap and im a pretty young guy so any input is greatly appriciated. thanks, Ray

Assuming they are both Chevy engines they are interchangeable.

Since they are both Chevy engines they should have the same bolt pattern. Buick, Oldsmobile and Pontiac engines used a different bolt pattern then Chevy.
