This question is about a 2008 Pontiac Torrent SUV. Right now I only have the one coded key and remote for the door locks and alarm. There is a few times that I almost locked the keys in the SUV. Now this is my 1st vehicle that has a coded key. Can I make a non-coded key that I can carry in my wallet so I can manually open the drivers door, the drivers door is the only door that still has the manual key lock and electric lock, in case I do lock the keys inside. Also how do I arm the alarm without the remote. I know that if I unlock and open the drivers door manually the alarm will start with small low volume beeps on the horn and there is about 10 to 15 second window to put the key in the ignition and turn the key to disarm the alarm. Can that part be done with a non-coded key? I would like my room mate to have a key on his ring also in case I am away from home or sleeping and he needs to get something from the rig. Also in the past I always had a spare key at home and in my wallet in case the key gets broken or gets lost. I have checked on the price of a coded key. They aren't cheap.
