Question about CEL code P0171

Check engine light was on so I brought it to the dealer. They said that the fresh air snorkel was disconnected at the valve cover. They reconnected it and the CEL went out. Well the light came back on and I would like to reconnect the hose rather than bring it back to the dealer, but I can't find it. If someone could point me in the right direction, I would really appreciate it!
 
dont know what year or what engine you have but the valve cover is on top of the engine. You may have a plastic cover hiding the top which has to be removed.
 
whoops, thought i included that in my post... it is a 2006 Pontiac Torrent V6
 
I found it. A guy at fixya pointed me in the right direction. It connects under the ignition module (firewall side).

It was loose there, so I just reconnected it. Should I reset the codes? If no, approximately how long will I have to drive it before the CEL goes out?

I do not think the CEL will go out by itself, you could try disconnecting the battery but that can lead to other issues occasionally.
 
that is the way to do it!
