i have a 1987 grand am interior in my 1965 corvair. it has a cruise on the turn signal lever and i can't find any information on ebay of all the places to not have any info. anyway i would like to add the cruise unit to the corvair to complete the system but i need to know what years and other gm cars this unit was on so i can widen the search. and the lever on my column is way different than all the rest i found on ebay.

i pulled the lever out of the switch today to see if it would come out because all the levers on ebay looked like they just pushed into the turn signal switch. and my lever has a separate harness with 4 wires on it. now they are just wires but one time it did have a plug on it.

so if anyone can help me out with either good parts of info on where to get them i sure will help out. a lever and all the components for the cruise control. maybe someone has an old parts car they can part with these parts. thanks bob p.

I'm not clear on what you want you state the lever already has a cruise function on it so are you looking for all the other cruise control components?

as stated i have the lever it had the plug now it is gone just the wires remain. but because the plug is now gone i would need the complete setup. the lever, the electric brain/control unit, the vacuum head that pulls on the throttle, the vacuum bottle, and all the wires i can get to make it complete. or as much of the wiring i can get. then i have to find the wire diagram to just remake that harness. thanks bp.

try a junk/salvage yard they have interchange guides, Hollander, which tell them what year any part fits.

Bob it will be less expensive and easier to go to an after market cruise set up. For under $300 a self contained electronic Rostra unit from Summit Racing is available. Order it with the speedometer transducer and the turn signal stalk to fit in place of the GM unit. Only took a few hours to install mine and it works great.

may still have to do that but i have one of those now and the stalk will not plug in to the column but it has to be mounted on the dash or wire tied tot he stalk. either way not what i want to do. and in the links provided there is no picture of the stalk so i'm again not sure what it will be? thanks

If the correct stalk is ordered it will plug in just like the factory unit. I have one in the 77 Nova (using an 82 Cadillac tilt/tele column) and one for the 72 Chevelle using an 80 G body tilt column. Both slip right in like the GM stalk. I did have to take the plug off to get the wire inside the column, the instructions suggest routing it on the outside.

Your welcome, that is why we come here...to help and be helped.

yep this forum is way better than the corvair site. every time i ask a question i get a reply that tells me to look it up in the faq's so i do and it takes forever because after about 5 replays the thread start to change to a different topic altogether. this one stayed on track for some time. again thanks all for the help. bp.
