Radio Volume Doesn't Work

Hello all, I am new to this forum and looking for some help with my radio.

I have a 2003 Sunfire 4 Door. I recently took the central part of the dash off to fix a kinked HVAC control cable. I didn't touch the radio, but now the LCD Display does not light up, and the volume knob does not work. I am unable to lower or raise the volume when i turn it. If I push the knob volume in, it turns the radio on an off as usual. All other presets, CD Player, etc. work as before.

I understand that that the lights behind the LCD screen sometime burn out randomly, but I cannot figure out how to fix the volume.

Any thoughts?

If it worked before you took the dash apart the problem appears to be somehow connected to the work you did. You can check the radio connections if something was loosened but beyond that the problem is internal to the radio.
