Hello
My van is making rapid clicking noises even when shut off and the keys out of ignition, and whatever is causing this is also draining the battery

I thought it might be the anti theft because the car won't start and the anti theft armed indicator red leds were flashing differently from the usual cycle, however I think the car does not start because the battery is low.

Any thoughts? Thank you

where in the vehicle is the clicking noise from under the hood? Did you try to locate if the noise is coming from a relay in the fuse box?

lets keep it simple and hope for the best, If your battery has drained because of a light that was left on and went unnoticed, the cars electrical system can do some strange stuff to say the least with a discharged battery. So for starters disconnect your negative battery cable inspect all your switches doors and anything that could have been left on by you or someone else and ensure everything is the way it should be.

Recharge your battery or replace it your choice of course. reconnect the battery negative cable last. does the clicking persist?

If the car starts and runs normally plus you no longer hear the clicking and your worried about there being an excessive voltage draw, the vans electrical system will need to be diagnosed by you or a shop.

If your going to do it you will need a good DVOM digital volt ohm meter and the exact allowed drain on your electrical system found in a factory service manual . many items in your van will drain the battery down but at an acceptable rate. this is measured in milliamps not amps. we can give you general guidelines but it is best to go from a manual.

but before we get too technical check all your doors make sure they are closed make sure all lights are off make sure the hazard lights were not engaged by accident

And before we get into testing you must have a fully charged battery.

Do the provided easy suggestions and get back with us. I am online much of the day so expect a reasonably fast response.

You may also want to clean the jump terminal contact on the fuse block. When I got my van that are was so corroded that it stopped the car from running with out a external battery source.

Good call on that connector, even if it doesn't fix the problem, vehicle specific tips like yours is one thing that can be marked off the maintenance to do list.
