rear brake bulb

70 lemans , I took off the brake lens and when I went to push in bulb to remove the whole socket when in, I looked in trunk ,no access underneath the car the same, looks like can only get to it from outside , I can't get socket to lock in unless i'm doing it wrong any ideas?

You have to remove the rear bumper
