I have a question about the rear suspension for the 84/85 fiero. Is the 88 Fiero rear suspension the best choice or would the suspension from a Corvair, Porsche, VW or "make up your own" be a better choice. This is a future project but I would like to know what to keep my eyes open for.

The 1984 thru 1987 suspension has a thing called "bump steer" as the suspension travels up and down the wheels change toe angle. There are kits to remove the bump steer issue. You can get more info here:

You can also reduce the amount of bump steer by using stiffer springs and poly bushings. This will reduce the amount of suspension travel so bump steer is less and improving handling greatly, but it will stiffen the ride.

The 1988's had the suspension redesigned and it elimintes the bump steer.

The proper way would be to use the kit above. You will feel a huge difference in handling.
