Hello Everyone
I have a broken rear sway bar link.Removing
The bar requires taking out 2 leaf spring retainer bolts on each side. Do the tires have to be on the ground for this? I have never done this before? The car is a 73 firebird Formula, 5/8 bar.

Thx

why do you have to remove the bar to replace an end link? Remove the top top bolt and the two bottom bolts of the link assembly.

I assume you mean sway bar bushings not end link bushings. The factory procedure for replacing the bar calls for the rear of the car to be raised.

Yes, sorry for confusion...
The kit includes sway bar bushings and end link bushings.
When you say "raised", do you mean on a lift? Jack stands?
My concern is taking out the 2 bolts that hold the end link bushings in place.

I would raise the car by the rear differential and lower the axle onto 2 jack stands. The picture showing the 2 bolts holding on the end link doesn't seem to raise an issue. Do you mean the bolts attaching the bar to the plate in the area of the lower shock mount? If so the procedure doesn't call for anything else to support the spring.

Yes, the bolts attaching the bar to the plate is my concern.
So...if I remove the bolts that hold the end link bushings, I should be fine?
Thanks!!
