I just bought a 1970 Catalina 2dr hardtop with a 400ci V-8. The package tray is virtually destroyed, but Ames seems to have a replacement at a reasonable price. That said, it looks like the back window is leaking as the damage to the package tray was clearly water-related. Anyone have any experience with fixing this? I also noticed that Ames has a kit to redo the seal around the window. Has anyone used their kits with any success?

Thanks,

unless you have prior experience installing windshields and back glass it would be best to have a glass shop do the work.

I agree with melsg5 about having a shop do the window work unless you have done it before. Also be prepared for the window channel to be rusted out. In my experience it has never been the Butyl seal leaking it has always been a rust hole in the window channel below the Butyl seal. That area does not drain well, and add dirt or salt to the standing water and it doesn't take long to rot away.
