My 2005 Pontiac Montana tachometer recently will not go to zero when I turn the engine off. It stays where ever it wants to. Turning the ignition key on and off will get it back to zero, but still will not reset to zero when I turn the engine off; so is there a code that will reset the tachometer to zero?
I have tried disconnecting the battery, waiting, then hooking the battery back up, but to no avail.

Could be a bad connector in the cluster or bad ground or an internal problem. If you get a correct reading with the engine running it is not worth the effort to correct it.

Thanks for the info, I’ll check these out.
