You make no mention of the year but the car if it had points from the factory would have a double wire connection at the + positive terminal of the ignition coil. One wire comes from the ignition switch and is a resistor wire which lowers the voltage once the engine is running. The second wire is a regular wire and comes from the starter solenoid and provides a full 12 volts while cranking. What has been done to your car that you no longer have the original wires harness and what year is it?
