I have a 97 sunfire that started idling really rough. it does not do it all the time but it turned on the engine light and when checked it said cylinder 1 misfire. it read this twice so we replaced the spark plugs and unplugged the battery to get the light off. the light finally went off and it seemed better but then started again. it also seemed to have loss some power and shifts kinda hard sometimes...i took it to the shop and they said that it died and wouldnt start for them so they were thinking fuel pump but still running tests...any help or thoughts would be appreciated.

mine did that too and the 2.2L motors were bad for heads cracking.... thats whats wrong with mine.... hopfully not yours too because gm discontinued the heads for the 2.2L so you will have to do a complete engine swap like im doing now... good luck and i hope its just your feul pump

thats what junkyards are good for. get a junkyard head, take it to a head specialist, and get it rebuilt
