1991 Sunbird, v-6. It has had a tune up. Running top of the line tune up parts. Fuel injectors have been cleaned at the shop. The past few months the check engine light has been comming on and off at random intervals. Doesn't seem to matter what speed or anything. And of course, since I smell it..I know it's running way to fat. This problem has now gotten worse. It is hard to start when it is cold. Cranks right over, but keeps cranking. Have to attempt numerous starts. If it had a carb I would say, the float is stuck and it's flooded. So...in fuel injection terms..what needs fixing?

Since the garage has pretty much eaten all my cash lately with repairs...what can I do to determine the cause before dragging it in there again?
I mainly know carburators, and non-computer run vehicle repair. I always owned older cars. This being the newest. So, all the sensors and what not?Any insight is appreciated. Thanks!

fuel problems

from reading your description quickly, you need to check O2 sensor, egr valve, fuel pressure regulator (o2 sensor being first priority) engine light coming on should reveal a trouble code stored in your ECM. hope this helps

With the snow melted, I actually jacked it up today. Would a blown gas line be causing it to do this? Maybe sucking too much air with the fuel through the line? It is a pressurized line near the rear axle.

gas line

it should not make it run rich like that but i would fix it first
