On April 27, 2009, General Motors announced that it would be ending production and shutting down the Pontiac brand. Pontiac can trace its roots back to the Oakland Motor Car Company, which GM acquired in 1909.
Forced to downsize by the Great Recession, GM shuttering Pontiac was a fairly big blow for fans of the marque, especially given its rather rumbly history of muscle cars and enthusiast-focused vehicles throughout its heritage. By 2010, the brand would produce its last vehicle from its Orion Assembly plant: a white 2010 Pontiac G6, which was later totaled and sold for $450.
