Hi guys,
I'm Jamie, and I live in Scotland.
Recently I decided I wanted a nice muscle car. So after searching through the internet, I found a 1971 Pontiac Firebird 400 6.6 V8 4 speed Automatic for £8,000 requiring some work.
It has had a full respray in Lucerne Blue 2 years ago, and has been well cared for since.
The engine was rebuilt from scratch in 2002, so although the millage is at 101,417 miles, 90% of the engine components were replaced at the rebuild so the true millage it probably more like 40,000!
The reason for selling is the owner had ran out of money, and it had failed it's MOT (UK version of an Inspection Test for you Americans) on a few things:
Brake pedal has excessive travel
Failed brake efficiency test
N/S Track rod end excessively worn
O/S Track rod end excessively worn
N/S Rear tyre below 1.6MM Tread Depth
O/S Rear tyre below 1.6MM Tread Depth
I've put the brake problems down to the master cylinder as there is a leak of brake fluid coming from it, and as for the track rod ends the tester wasn't wrong there, the car wanders all over the road!
The engine has full service history, but I'll give it a basic service just to be sure. New air cleaner, fuel filter, oil, oil filter.
