I drive a 1996 firebird 3.8l.

Everything are fine on my vehicle before my serpentine belt snapped.
I was driving through downtown and my vehicle shutdown on me. Popped my hood and found out my serpentine belt is gone. Tow it to my house
Before I replace my serpentine belt. I inspected all my pulleys, sensors, wirings and any components to make sure they didn't get hit by serpentine belt. Everything look good.
I crank it but no start. Battery and alternator tested good. Fuses are good.

I also found out when you turn your key on, engine off, my check engine light doesn't appear before you turn your engine on. Does this mean my ecu shot? And no my bulb isn't out. Bulb is good.

are you sure the crank shaft position sensor wasnt damaged? do you hear the fuel pump run when you turn the key to the run position? do you own or can borrow a code scanner?

Found out that my ecm is bad. Now I have to replace it and get re program..

I did checked it. No damage. It not getting spark or getting fuel. Scan tool wouldn't get any info. Computer is bad.

did you check for a blown fuse, in particular the cigarette lighter fuse, it powers the port that the scan tool uses . Doesnt make sense loosing the belt would damage the ecm.

I agree with you. It doesny make any sense. Yes it work. All the interior lights work. Fuses are good.
