the service engine light stays on on my 2000 montana and I have check the gas cap many times, the van seems to run fine. Could the cap be bad and what does the wire that is attached to it do? This van is used every day as a flower delivery van so according to the drivers it is running fine!! If it is the cap is there an easy way to replace it being the wire hooked to it?

Have you had the codes pulled on the car, if so, what code is set? P0442 would be related to the fuel cap/ evap system leaks. If it's something else, the cap probably isn't the problem.
