Hello all, I'm new to this forum and I'm search of some advice and wisdom. I currently have an '87 Camaro Z28 that turned out to be more a hassle than I hoped and I've been trying to trade it for the right vehicle. Ive had several tempting offers, but one seems to have piqued my interest. It's an '86 GT notchback with 120k miles and seems to be in good condition. Now i know the 86 gt's were mostly fastbacks but he swears its a gt notchie and was manufactured in december of 85 before the fastback was introduced. Now I'm a Pontiac freak but the Fiero is still rather new to me and I was hoping some of this could be cleared up for me by some experts on the Fiero. I am aware that, like all cars, Fieros have their fair share of problems and I'm hesitant because I dont want to be stuck with a junk heap again. Opinions, feelings, info are all welcome. Below are pics he has sent me. Thank you.

He can swear all he wants but there is no such thing as a 1986 GT notchback.
That is a 1986 SE with the V-6 option. The 1986 SE's looked exactly like the 1985 GT's. All GT's had the lower aero panels painted metallic gray, On the SE's they were painted satin black. Ask him for the VIN and you can decode it. It should decode as a V-6 SE.
Even if the quarter windows says GT, It takes about 10 minutes and an 11mm socket to change them.

Looks like someone painted the center console and upper door panels and Installed a 3-spoke GT steering wheel. (SE's originally had a 4-spoke steering wheel)

First thing I would do is a tune-up and get new spark plug wires. The pic makes it look like the wires are twice as long as they should be.

As for other issues, The Fiero is over 25 years old. You have no idea how it was cared for the first 120K miles. From the pictures I would say it is in fair condition. As for how it runs, you would need to take it for a test drive. Any vehicle that is that old is going to need some work. I cannot tell you more without actually checking the vehicle out in person.
