My speedometer light in my 2003 Montana is out. I went to the junkyard to try out taking the dash apart and saw two types of speedometer clusters -- one with bulbs accessible from the rear of the cluster and another with soldered-on bulbs. Seems to me they should be LEDs like the transmission indicators, but lucky me - I've got the soldered-in type. I don't see how to take this thing apart without damaging it, and the bulbs seem to be soldered-in incandescents (I did tear the one in the junk yard apart to see, and it seems mine is the same).
How do you fix/replace these? And what are the chances that NONE of my bulbs have burned out EXCEPT BOTH of the ones behind the Speedometer display? Is there some separate current supply only to those two particular bulbs?
Will I have to pull the unit out, take off the indicator needles, and desolder and re-solder in replacement bulbs? How do they replace these in the dealer? Just replace the entire speedometer cluster unit?
Advice?
