So, I finally got my car back on the road. Rebuilt the original 350, nut and bolt. New starter, HEI distributor, carb, battery, everything.
After having it out on a few sunday rides, I took the kids out for ice cream on a hot day. After sitting for about 20 minutes, we left, drove 10 miles and the car died while driving down the highway. It started back up and died again a few miles later. This happened 5 times in a 30 mile trip.
Considering everything is new, I replaced the HEI coil thinking maybe I got a bad one. Unfortunately, that was not the solution. The only thing that I have not done, that makes sense, is to replace the power (12V+) line in the possibility that there is an open being caused by heat or movement.
I have checked all connections and everything is tight. When the car dies, it just dies. No warning, like the key is shut off. Any ideas?
Thanks!
