My wife is driving a 2003 Grand Am with the 3.4 liter V6. From time to time she will try to start it and it will crank but not start. She shuts it off, then try's again and it won't start again. Same thing, cranks great but won't start. After about three or four tries it will start. Then she cab smell some kind of burning smell. The car will run kinda rough after that.

Any ideas? This is a real pain for her.

is the check engine light on? is the smell gasoline? has she opened the hood to see if the smell is coming from the engine? if gasoline, check the vacuum line going to the fuel pressure regulator for gas, if you find gas replace the regulator.

No check engine light, I can't smell gas. I'll look at the line when I get home. Thanks a million, I appreciate it.
