Stiff Rear Suspension

I was driving along the highway yesterday and my van started to bounce rigidly from the rear. I pulled over thinking I had a flat, but to my amazement the rear shock absorbers pumped themselves to the max! The rear shocks are controlled by "Electronic Level Control", this much I know and the pump in the rear is generating air to fill the shocks. The problem is that a release valve or blow valve of some sort is completely sealed or broken. I'm guessing here! Anyway does anyone have any ideas what might be keeping the rear shocks from acting normally....please don't tell me it's a computer problem. Any advice is much appreciated.

This is most likely a level sensor issue... The Brain for it think its lower than it is and just keeps inflating the air shocks...

Thanks for the reply Jr's 3800. I did however call the dealer this morning and they advised me the it was probably a link the ties the sensor arm and the rear trailing arm. Sure enough! It was a broken link made of plastic and steel. I had to buy a new one for $55 Canadian. I would probably recommend checking out the nearest wrecker first for one that isn't too rusty. And if the wreckers is the place you get it make sure it isn't in the minus temp's because the plastic is most likely going to crack and break off! For anyone that ever has to do this you will need a pair of channel locks to squeeze the link into place and DON"T LOWER THE CONTROL ARM! It will release air from the shocks slowly and then you might have to jack the vehicle up. I have attached a diagram that came with the OEM part.

Glad it was a simple fix for you... Better the arm rather than the sensor:)
