So I hate these stupid radios, designed by GM to make it a pain if anything little thing goes wrong...

My dad and I recently purchased together a 99 Firebird V6 as a 16th birthday present for my younger brother. However, because he is more interested in playing Steam than anything to do with cars, I have been the main one driving and working on it. It has just over 100k, in the rare and once very pretty Mystic Teal. Sadly the car spent years with a neglectful owner and the paint is starting to go and the inside is faded pretty bad, but it still runs and drives so tight. I'm already planning on purchasing my own Trans Am maybe later this year...

Anyway, the factory radio had been acting up on me. The display led is dead, and the audio would sort of pulse randomly, and the CD player didn't work. I took the radio out to see if cleaning the CD player would work and see if I could somehow fix the dead led. I cleaned the player lens, this worked on my Toyota truck a few years ago, and put it back in the car.

The radio now says "LOC" and I cannot get it to do anything. Sometimes when you would start the car in the morning it would randomly be on LOC. I do have the factory radio code and putting that in always fixed it, but this time I cannot input it. Normally you put in the code using the hour and minute buttons, but the radio doesn't respond to anything. I looked online elsewhere and someone recommended holding down 1&2 on the presets to go through the process of resetting it, but this does nothing.

Maybe I've gone on to much, but does anyone know of something I can do? I have an 8 hour round trip to make later this week and I HATE not having a radio.

Thanks!
