My 1998 sunfire will start but will not stay running. I thought it was a security system but that got cleared and it still wont stay running. HELP!

how many miles since you changed the fuel filter? have you done a fuel pressure test?

I had the same problem. Check your Catalytic converter? Mine blew and there was a golfball sized piece of honeycomb resting in front of my O2 sensor.

Hopefully it's nothing more expensive!

honestly mine was doing that and i ended up changeing the waterpump and thermostat and then it started smokeing and took it in and i had a blown head gasket i hope thats not true cuz that expensive time consumeing work, 4 cylinders have an aluminum block that if it gets to hot warps the best way to tell this is to check your oil and if it has little bubbles in it you have a blow head gasket, it has watter in it.

Try and pull any check engine light codes.. I would assume its either air or fuel related. Your fuel pump may be going out.... how does it run while its started?.. before it dies?

The pass key security system can cause those symptoms.
