I have a 2004 Pontiac Sunfire with a GM Supercharger. I believe it is the same supercharger found in the Cobalt SS.

I am trying to determine what is up with this bypass valve. There are 2 vacuum ports on the bypass valve. The upper port has a hose running from it to the supercharger itself. This is how the hose runs on the Cobalt SS as well.

The second port is open to air. On the Cobalt SS, apparently the second port has a hose that connects to some solenoid, but I don't think the Sunfire has this solenoid because the supercharger doesn't come from the factory.

So I don't know if the second port is supposed to be open to air or not, but what does not seem right to me is that this port is constantly sucking in air, which means there is some air getting into the engine that isn't filtered. If I plug the port, the idle drops slightly, and the vacuum drops from roughly -18 to -20 at idle.

So is this port supposed to be open to air, and if so, is it supposed to be sucking air?

Does this instruction set below appear to be for your vehicle?
If so, page 7 states no hose is connected to the port.

Yes, that appears to be the correct supercharger. I was looking for these instructions. I don't know how you found them, but I appreciate it.

I also posted this to a Cobalt SS forum since superchargers are more common on those cars. I think I have what I need now. Thanks.
