Surging with AC on

02 Silver Fire

Hey everyone, I am a newbie to this forum but was wondering if anyone has ever had a similar problem. My 02 sunfire SE 2.2L surges like crazy when I turn the AC on, to the point that if I am at a light or stop sign and dont keep my foot on the brake I will lurch forward. Has anyone had a similar issue? To me it feels like the compressor is kicking on and off but it does it so frequently to me it seems abnormal but maybe it is one of those quarks on these cars.:confused:

Any help would be greatly appreciated...Thanks in advance for any replies.

It may be low on the A/C coolant - try to recharge
