surging with slight acceleration

I've got this issue with my 2000 Montana which my dealership cannot figure out. They say it could be the MAP sensor, but there are no codes showing when they hook up the scanner. It started this summer, and it seems that my fuel mileage decreased around the same time. When the van is in high gear (usually overdrive), I slightly accelerate and the van will start "surging" or "kangarooing" forward and backing off repeatedly. The rpms fluctuate as well. It's very annoying. As soon as I accelerate a bit more, it will kick into 3rd gear and the symptom is gone. There seems to be no loss of power. Like I said, the fuel mileage isn't very good. The last tank I got around 15 mpg. Being here in Labrador, Canada, it's typical to have increased fuel consumption in the winter, but 15 is a bit low. Any ideas?

The dealer said they detected a misfiring wire, so, since I had nearly 70,000 on the original plugs and wires, I had them replaced. And what a job! $600+ later, the surge is still there. Not sure what a tune up includes on these newer vehicles other than plugs and wires.

i have the same problem right now. so if anyone ever figures out what the problem is let me know. i changes the tps, fuel filter, new plugs n wires n still havent fixed it. i also cleaned the air intake

How bad is the misses does it stall ? Before I start guessing you should have the codes pulled and that would give you a starting point. Also describe what is going on ? What brand plugs and wires did you instal ?

I am also having this same problem and it's getting worse every day. Mine scans as an o2 sensor but I'm not sure because it's only during light acceleration, even just against wind. I have also replaced fuel filter, plugs, etc. A co worker said he replaced the ICM (Ignition Control Module) and his worked good after that. I am planning on trying a different one soon and will let you know how it turned out.
