Taillight overheating

Anyone know why my driver side taillight overheated? It melted the housing

assuming you have the correct stock bulb, I would check the taillight sockets for poor connection. Did you check if your vehicle year and serial number had a recall for bad tail light sockets. I had a 2003 and there was a recall for it.

I checked the vin and there's no recall I'm thinking it's a short circuit what do you think?

why didnt the fuse blow if it is a short? High resistance such as poor contact generates heat. I assume you checked the bulb numbers and they are correct?
