Takes 20 minutes of warming up before going into gear

HI,

Before I do all the unnecessary things let me bring this to your attention and maybe I can get my solution here. It takes about 20-25 minutes of warming up my 2008 Pontiac Solstice before it goes into any gear. After that the gears shift fine. I can let her sit for the rest of the day and get in her again for a drive and there's no problem with the gears. I only have problems at the initial start up in the morning.
 
Is this a manual or automatic transmission?
 
Have you tried bleeding the hydraulic system?

I haven't checked yet or tried bleeding the system. I'm trying to find someone in my area who works on them. Kinda scared to let anybody touch it.

I would start by changing the trans fluid and adding the correct fluid as you don't know what fluid it has now. If the fluid change does not help, it has to be something to do with the clutch slave cylinder. There is no real way to bleed the system, it is supposed to be self bleeding when you pump the clutch pedal.

The system shares the fluid with the brakes, so it could also have water in the brake fluid. I would also change the brake fluid as it should be changed every 5 years or so anyway. It can't hurt, but I don't think it will help your issue.

If the fluid changes do not help, it is probably a bad clutch master or slave cylinder, or the line in pinched coming out of the brake fluid reservoir to the system. If thats the case it could be an expensive fix as the transmission needs to be at least slid back to change the slave cylinder.

Thank you so much for your insight. Fingers crossed that it's just the fluid. The previous owner did tell me that he had recently replaced the clutch. I'm taking her in for a check-up tomorrow. I will let you all know what I find out.

The problem was the Master Clutch cylinder, I had it replaced and now she drive like brand new.

Hi, the problem was the Master Clutch cylinder. I had it replaced and now she drives like a brand new car. It was an easy and short process.
