I recently purchased a used '08 torrent 3.6 litre which is getting terrible milage. I am getting approx 420 Kilometers per tank, which in my experience with other vehicles, is far from normal. I also own a '09 charger with a 3.5 L high output, and I'm getting approx 550 kilometers per tank. Within the last month I replaced a bad ignition coil, a cat converter and air filter, all of which I thought was the cause of the excessive fuel consumption. Any suggestions or is this normal??

do you have a check engine light? did you check for a dirty air filter? The EPA lists this vehicle as 16mpg city 24mpg highway 19mpg combined. The Charger has a larger tank, so you have to figure out your KPG not the range.

Well miles per tank is not how to determine good/poor fuel mileage between vehicles. Miles since last fill-up/gallons used to top off tank = mpg. Don't you also have a thread open about your torrent not accelerating like another vehicle you own, well simply put, trying to get your 0-60 under 8 seconds will not give you the fuel economy the vehicle is rated for. Taking your foot out of the gas petal a little will get you a lot better results.

No engine light on, alreay changed filter, ignition coil and cat converter. My charger is 18 gallon compared to 17 gallon for the torrent. Keep in mind I'm in Canada and all I know is that I burned 53 litres to travel 346 kilometers and it was not hard driving. If I convert to USA measurments, 53 litres = 11 gallons and 346 kilometers = 214 miles, which means 19 MPG. Apparently, I'm in the quoted estimates after all, so I don't feel that bad now. thanks

My Wife and I drive her 07 Torrent hard and consistently get what I consider good mileage. Reads 550 km range on the consumption gauge when full and we usually get it. Usually around 10.0 to 11.0 l/100kms indicated. It is the v-6, 3.4l engine. Usually drive around 105-110 kmph. I worked it out cross-country on a 500 mile trip, was around 29mpg imperial at over 110 kmph.

Gas Mileage
I also have a '08 Torrent and live in Canada. Winter driving really reduces the fuel mileage, especially cold morning starts and if you use the remote starter to let it warm up for 5-10 minutes first. Winter average is 400km-450km per tank. I do have a heavy foot (it is a lot of fun to drive, especially in manual mode). Summer months, when I was doing about 80% highway and 20% city, averaged 600km-650km per tank (about 10.5L/100km). Drove down to the states a couple of times, could get close to 750km (9L/100km). Maybe using the block heater for extremely cold (-15 deg C) nights may help extend fuel mileage.

Just had a MAP sensor installed yesterday, so in the past month, I've replaced a ignition coil, cat converter and now the MAP, any or all of these parts I understand will effect the gas milage. So I'm crossing my fingers milage will improve. BTW I don't have a remote start or a heavy foot, unless I'm driving the charger, but I will use the block heater from now on, thanks Mike
