PO128 + Running Warm---> Hot = Bad Thermostat? I figure that's a bit of a Captain Obvious question, as the PO128 code specifies "Coolant Thermostat (Coolant Temperature Below Thermostat Regulating Temperature), but I figured that I'd ask. That and this is definitely the cheapest fix as far as running hot goes (well...that and checking the coolant level), so I'll start here.

I see that it's just two bolts to remove to get to the thermostat. Is there any catch here (i.e. bolts prone to breaking)? Thank you.

Sounds like 2 problems, one is the old condition of running too cold (P0128) and the new one, overheating. Gotta find out where the coolant went. Hopefully you don't have a lower intake leak......if so, replace the t-stat while the intake is off. I've replaced a bunch of t-stats on these GM 60* engines, and have not had any issue with the bolts seizing/breaking. Only the head on the lower one stripping from not getting a wrench on it correctly, from someone else then they give it to me to fix lol.
