Listen, I was wondering if there are any known drop-in crate engines for the Third Gen Trans Ams?

I'm hoping at getting my hands on an '82 T/A in the near future (next few months), and I was wondering if anyone knows of any websites that sell higher performance engines?

I'd gladly appreciate any suggestions. :)

Well, I suppose I can find something that'll fit my needs and budget. Anyways, next I'm wondering if it would be a wise decision to upgrade the trans as well.

I'm hoping to be jumping the horsepower up to be in the upper 300's, maybe into the 400's, and I'm wondering if I'd need to swap out for an upgrade on the 700r4.

If I do, what other parts would I need to upgrade so everything works smoothly? (I don't have any experience with transmissions, tbh)

Again, thanks! c:

A 700R4 in good condition will have no problem with that kind of horsepower. Not interested in a manual transmission?

Well, maybe. What I'm gonna do with it, if I get it, is just upgrade little things here and there, and the engine, while I'm driving it around in college. However, later on I'm going to turn it into a KITT replica to sell it. (It's the exact car, 1982 Trans Am with T-Tops)

Thing is, I don't know what kind of trans KITT had. I'd imagine an automatic though, with the whole "driving himself" thing.

One last question:

I know I'm going to convert it to four-wheel disk brakes, but I also have this crazy idea for maybe a part-time AWD system for the car.

Am I insane, or no? XP

Not insane, just getting ahead of yourself. You current list will eat into your wallet all by itself.

Well, I know that this project will take perhaps a very long time to do (especially with all the wiring! DX). Maybe up to 6 years, even. I hope not that long, and I don't think it will, but I understand that I have a massive list of things to do to the car, plus a big list of things I want to do to the car.

I'm just brainstorming ideas, really. A lot of fancy, but realistic and useful features can up my eventual profit, if I do it right.

I know what you're saying though, and you're right. I should first focus on basics, and worry about all the fancy gadgets and features when I get to that point.
