In my 2008 Montana van the rear tire sensor shows low pressure intermittently , I checked the pressure with a gauge (the old fashioned way) and it was good. I phoned a service shop they told me after 5 years the batteries get weak in the sensors and if ones going the rest will go soon so it's best to replace all the sensors at once cost will be about $300-$400. does this sound right?
The van only has 50K on it if I drove it a piece of black tape would fix it but for my wife this is a pull over and phone me at work event.

Go to rockauto.com and look up you van and folllow the links for a tire valve pressure service kit(TPMS) , they offer many kits/replacements for this reason. You need to find a new shop or bring this to there attention. or a high voulume tire shop should know about these options, you can't be the only person in this situation. Good luck and keep us posted on what route you took, this will help others in years to come.

The fix is to replace the sensor, they have batteries that wear out. The price varies depending on where you buy it but Rockauto shows them at $40 for AC Delco. Add in the price of breaking down the tire to replace it and rebalance the wheel/tire assembly.
