I've never towed a rear wheel drive vehicle before, and I'm wondering if the 10 mile distance from where the car currently is to my garage is a safe distance to tow with out disconnecting the drive shaft?

yes. i towed mine 15 miles and had no problems. we just towed my buddies new car 50 miles last night and had no problems. just make sure its in neutral and stay below 65mph.

Definitely won't be going anywhere near 65. I figured it would be fine, but also wanted to double check. I mean, the car runs and technically drives, but has a blown cylinder ring and transmission fluid leak. Since the car was parked with in hours of the symptoms of the blown ring, I'd rather not risk driving it any, and hope that the cylinders don't have to be redone. :/

How does the car run with a blown cylinder ring? I would imagine if it would run it would score the hell out of the cylinder wall.

if it has 1 blown ring it will run with 1 cyl down. and yes if the crank is rotating that piston it will tear that cyl wall apart. it will be a good idea to find a machine shop to line hone the cylinder walls and replace all the rings at once to avoid anymore mishaps.

I've already got a machine shop. They redid the head on my VW. But first I have to get the car moved to the garage and get it all apart.
