Ok I've got a 1985 Fiero GT with the 4 - speed in it. I'm getting mixed answers for what fluid type the thing needs in it. Ive removed the drivers side CV joint to replace the boot and side seal. I've got the cv dissasembled check for wear and reassembled pack with grease and ready to go. I removed the side seal already and press fit the new one into place.

Now the haynes manual says it calls for 5w30 SAE engine oil, and alldata says the same. the fluid it had in it when i drained it was dextron II. I even called my local auto store and they said dextron II.

So what fluid you guys running? what should i put into it? I'm pretty sure the trans is a M17 (muncie)

thanks for the responses...

I use GM Synchromesh. It is a dextron II fluid specifically designed for GM Manual transaxles. Shifting is smoother and quieter. Can be bought at any GM dealership.
