My car grinds going into reverse and it goes into other gears hard. it doesnt shift easy like other cars. what could be the problem here? some say clutch some say transmission syncros?

It is most likely in the clutch. Over time the pressure plate/clutch wear out and doesn't release all the way. You could also try bleeding the clutch lines. Sometimes you get an air bubble in there and the clutch pedal doesn't move the slave cylinder as much.

Hello, I have a similiar problem. When I'm swtching gears from 1st to 2nd no much of a problem but when I go ahead and try to go into 3rd and 4th, it is hard to find those gears. One of the things that ends up occuring is I go from 2nd to 5th gear. Then I have to go ahead and try to find 3rd or 4th depending of the circumstances.

Please don't take this as rude just as help. Your situation sounds a lot more like operator error to me. try this: next time when your driving go slower while your shifting gears and when your coming out of 2nd and going into third pull the shifter out of second and let the shifter put itself into nuetral then just push straight up without any angle. you will go straight into third and to go to 4th from there just pull straight back. I know this sounds like duh.... but it will help. I'm going to assume (which will probably get me in trouble) that you are new to a standard transmission and you haven't had any real formal training on a tight gearing design yet. Especially with a short throw shift these tranny's can be very hard to learn.

Replace the shift cable for the 3-4 gears.
The shift cables can corrode or bind and cause what you describe.
