Trying to locate a TA

I bought a 1976 Pontiac Trans Am new in 1977, had the car for 12 years then 2 children came along, decided to sell the TA and by a Chevy Astro van. I have the original window sticker and was trying to find the owner or if the car is still around. I knew the next 2 owners and then it vanished. I went to the local Motor Vehicle Department to see if it was still around, they couldn't find anything. They said it was either out of state or wrecked. Anyone have any idea if there is anything I can do to try and still locate it ?

these days I'm surprised the DMV even did that for you. Privacy issues generally prevent them from doing that. People are constantly searching for cars they or a relative had when they were younger and there is no proven way of doing it You can try posting a description on this and other sites stating you are searching for the car with specifics, VIN, color, options, etc. Good luck in your search. In the end you probably should just look for any car that is close enough to what yours looked like.
