Hello all,
I have a quick simple question on the Turbo Hydro transmission. Can someone shed some light on my concern please for my turbor Hydro transmission?
I have a '68 bird and just installed the motor and transmission. I was sold a used turbo hydro 400 transmission to place behind my rebuilt 350 Pontiac. Everything is hooked up, but have not started my fresh motor until I send it out for exhaust. I have a column shift on my car. There are no fluids in my car at the moment. Motor has not been fired yet. No tranny fluid in the transmission yet. My question is, "Is is normal to go from park to Reverse, neutral, drive, first and second and the car still rolls? Remember, the car is NOT running. The car never stops in a gear, but rolls when I go out of park and all the way down to 2nd. Is this normal? Does the motor have to be running for thetranny have to have fluid and pressure built up in order to "be in grear" when I select through the gears? It has been some years since I have had old cars, so want to make sure my tranny is not shot. I know most newer cars when transferring gears when going from neautral to a gear will stop the car from rolling. Any information will be helpful.
Thanks, Scott
